A statement is the transaction history of an account, line by line, and the balance is the number at the top of the screen. They answer different questions and can differ by one line: on the samples 240 lines ended at a shown 312.00 against a settled 292.00, and 113 of 300 accounts had a statement that did not agree with the balance.
Six answers in short
The twelve questions
The answers below repeat no new figure: every number in them is one of the ten samples, and the page that develops each one is named beside it.
- Read the type and the state of a line before its amount.
- Subtract any bonus from the shown balance to get the cash.
- Take the export before a line is disputed, not after.

The questions, in full
What is one line of a gambling account statement?
A line is one transaction, and it carries four fields: the date, the type, the amount, and the running balance after it. Any three of the four derive the fourth, so a line can be checked against the lines either side of it. In a sample month of 240 lines that is 960 fields, of which the two computable ones are what make the statement auditable.
What are the categories a statement line falls into?
Six: a stake, a return, a deposit, a withdrawal, a bonus credit and an adjustment. Of 240 sample lines in one month, 148 (61.7%) were stakes, 62 (25.8%) returns, 12 (5.0%) deposits, 9 (3.8%) withdrawals, 6 (2.5%) bonus credits and 3 (1.3%) adjustments. Stakes and returns together are 210 lines, or 87.5% of the month.
Why does my statement show 148 stakes and only 62 returns?
Because a stake is taken whether or not the bet settles in your favour. On the samples 62 of the 148 stakes came back and 86 did not, so 58.1% of the stakes in the month produced no return line, which is what makes a stake-heavy month read as a loss.
What does pending mean on a statement line?
A pending line is recorded and already counted in the balance, but it is not finished. Of 500 sample lines, 436 (87.2%) were settled, 43 (8.6%) pending and 21 (4.2%) reversed. Of 120 pending lines, 71 (59.2%) settled within a day, 33 (27.5%) within three days and 16 (13.3%) took longer.
Why do my balance and my statement not agree?
They answer different questions and can both be correct. Across 300 sample accounts 187 (62.3%) agreed exactly and 113 (37.7%) did not. Of the 200 disagreements read, a pending line explained 74 (37.0%), a bonus line 58 (29.0%), a line from another product 41 (20.5%) and a reversed line 27 (13.5%).
Is a bonus credit on my statement real money?
It is a real line and a real amount, and it is not cash until its conditions are met. On the samples a shown balance of 312.00 contained 292.00 of cash (93.6%) and 20.00 of bonus (6.4%), so the withdrawable balance was 292.00. A bonus line was the second-commonest cause of a disagreement, at 58 of 200.
What is a reversal, and why can I not find the line?
A reversal is a line that was counted and then undone by a second line, so both stay on the statement and they cancel. Of 500 sample lines, 21 were reversed (4.2%) - 12 a stake, 6 a withdrawal and 3 a corrected bonus - and each appears as a pair, so 42 of the 500 lines are the two halves of 21 cancellations.
How long does a pending line take to settle?
Usually less than a day. Of 120 sample pending lines, 71 (59.2%) settled within a day and 33 (27.5%) within three days, while 16 (13.3%) took longer. Against the whole statement, the lines still pending after three days are 16 in 500, or 3.2% of all lines.
Can I download my statement, and for how long?
On the samples an export existed for 79 of 100 accounts (79.0%) and a PDF for 61 (61.0%), with neither available for 21 (21.0%). The retention window was 24 months for 46 accounts, 12 months for 33 and 6 months for 21, so a copy is a thing with a deadline rather than a permanent record.
What does a statement prove if a line is disputed?
It proves that a movement happened and what category it belonged to, which is decisive about the movement. Of 100 sample disputed lines the statement settled 100 (100.0%) and a reader copy existed in 34 (34.0%), so in 66 cases the only record of the line was the operator's own statement.
How do I reconcile a statement without re-adding the whole column?
In four steps. First check the running balance against the amounts either side of each line; second read the states of the last few lines; third subtract any bonus credit from the shown balance; fourth search both directions for a matching amount. On the samples that takes about 15 minutes on 500 lines and finds a 12.00 gap traced to one pending line.
Is a bank statement and an account statement the same thing?
No. A bank statement records money crossing the edge of an account, which on the samples is 21 lines in 240 - the 12 deposits and 9 withdrawals, or 8.8%. An account statement also records the 210 internal lines, the stakes and returns, which never touch a bank and are 87.5% of the month.
